A few years ago of one of my best friends got married in the small town of Marathon, Texas. While this town is basically in the middle of nowhere, it had a fun and unexpected artistic vibe that it’s big brother an hour down the road, Marfa, has become well known for. The day of the rehearsal dinner I had some time to kill, so I rented a bike and spent the afternoon exploring what Marathon had to offer.
Even in a small town in rural Texas, you are never far from a cute coffee shop, which this New Yorker was thankful for.
Backyard turned massive hobbiest railroad yard.
The host of the wedding weekend, the Gage Hotel. For a small town, this hotel is beautiful and has done a great job of preserving their history. I would definitely recommend for anyone traveling in the area!
Plenty of quirky art set against the mountain landscape.
Love a good desert landscape

Some really great photos here. I haven’t been out to Marathon in a couple years and this makes me want to drop everything and go. First time stumbling across your blog so forgive me if this has been answered before. What type of camera do you use?
Thanks! I use a Canon 70D which I absolutely love!
